Currently, there are three UNESCO sites in around Central Vietnam: Hoi An old town, My Son and Hue. Hoi An old town is around 40 minute drive from Da Nang International Airport, there are also a lot of resorts in the area and has been a popular destination for people who want more of Vietnam but had visited the north and the south. If you want a combination of culture, history and nature, Central has that variety.

Hoi An ancient town is well-preserved town reflecting a fusion of indigenous and foreign cultures: Chinese, Japanese and European. Last September the hubby and I stayed in Hoi An for 3 nights and we have spent 1 day in the area.

For one, there are a lot of art galleries in the old town, where you can buy paintings, crafts, art stamps, you name it!

There are also a lot of local restaurants serving a variety of food, my favorite has got to be this chicken rice where you can eat in the side walk. It's really cheap. I think I have mentioned before, but with my 3 nights in Hoi An, I ate chicken rice three times, twice at the hotel and once in the side walk. It consists of boneless chicken, rice, onion, herbs and sauce.

Being an ancient old town, ancient homes are scattered every where. By purchasing an entrance tickets, you can visit a bunch of either homes, temples and museums.

For our last evening we ate in Mai Cafe, the environment is really good, but I don't have a good feeling with the waiters, they kept on chatting in their language while laughing, so yeah, you'll feel uncomfortable. Food is expensive, but it's not as good.

It was still a nice experience. If you are living around South East Asia, Hoi An can be a quick getaway.
